  • Trains to London in under an hour
  • Stay in a 2-bedroom home with garden and free parking

Our two homes

The Pantiles and the Old Town

The Pantiles is the historic heart of Tunbridge Wells — a Georgian colonnaded walkway lined with independent shops, cafés, galleries and regular markets. In summer there are open-air food festivals and live jazz on the bandstand; in winter, a Christmas market. Wander down to Chapel Place and the High Street for more independents — delis, bookshops, boutiques — and plenty of good coffee. It's an easy day out on foot from both of our homes.

Parks and walks

Dunorlan Park is the town's best-known green space: 78 acres with a boating lake, a café and views over the Weald. Calverley Grounds, right in the town centre, hosts seasonal events and an ice rink at Christmas. For longer walks, Tunbridge Wells Common and Rusthall Common sit on the town's edge with their famous sandstone outcrops, and the High Weald Landscape Trail passes nearby for proper countryside rambles.

Days out nearby

Tunbridge Wells is a brilliant base for Kent and Sussex. Hever Castle (childhood home of Anne Boleyn), Penshurst Place, Groombridge Place and Scotney Castle are all within about 20 minutes' drive. Chartwell, Winston Churchill's home, is a little further. Spa Valley Railway runs heritage steam trains from the town to Eridge — a favourite with families. And if you fancy the city, direct trains from Tunbridge Wells and High Brooms reach London Bridge and Charing Cross in under an hour.

Where to eat and drink

The town has a thriving food scene: gastropubs, tapas bars, independent restaurants and old coaching inns, most of them around The Pantiles, the High Street and Camden Road. The surrounding villages have some excellent country pubs with gardens — ideal after a walk. Of course, both of our homes have fully equipped kitchens if you'd rather cook, with supermarkets and local food shops close by.
